I love when I get the chance to shoot an intimate wedding at a cozy Airbnb. Airbnb rentals are just like your home sweet home… but better! When it comes to choosing a wedding venue an Airbnb might be the last choice you would consider, but let me tell ya why they are my favorite places to shoot.
Airbnb weddings have boomed in popularity over the past few years. Especially in 2020 when large gatherings where restricted and many traditional wedding venues were forced to postpone their bookings.
While it can be wonderful to book a wedding venue that provides everything you could need all in one place, Airbnbs give you a chance to put your own creativity into your wedding day. Plus, Oregon Airbnb wedding venues are typically MUCH cheaper than the traditional wedding venue.
Can you rent an Airbnb for a wedding?
I know it may be untraditional and hard to believe, but YES, you can get married at an Airbnb. Of course there are a few factors to consider before you begin searching for the perfect Oregon Airbnb wedding venues.
First, you need to know how many guests you plan to invite to your wedding or elopement. Most Airbnb weddings will be best for smaller weddings. Think dinner party meets elopement!
My advice is to speak with the host BEFORE booking any Airbnb for your wedding. Make sure you ask permission no matter how small the event may be.
What Questions Should I Ask An Airbnb Host About Having A Wedding?
- Always ask permission! Never assume that it’s okay just because your elopement or wedding is small. Some hosts have strict photography and event policies and may charge an extra fee or say no all together.
- Are there any noise ordinaces in the area? Be sure that you are not blasting music late into the night when you’re not supposed to. Make sure to ask the host if there are extra steps you should take to respect any neighbors.
- Ask if you can visit the property before booking. Typically hosts do not arrange “previews” of the home but in the case of a wedding they may be willing to make an exception.
Oregon Airbnb Wedding Venues
Here in Oregon we have so many beautiful regions with a lot of Airbnb wedding venue options. I’ve narrowed my list to the Northwest and Central Oregon areas where I most often shoot.
Of course, these are just a few of my favorites. If you have a specific Oregon location in mind and would like a little extra help with your Airbnb search feel free to contact me!
Portland, Oregon Airbnb Wedding Venues
Midcentury Beauty in Lake Oswego
This home was build in 1962 and has been lovingly renovated and fully updated. There are TWO fireplaces and a huge back yard with a covered patio. There is a huge firepit and forest-like landscaping. A wonderful scene for after ceremony cocktails and cozy nights by the fire.
Wald House PDX
This Airbnb was actually featured in Dwell! Of course I can see why. It’s architecturally stunning and full of beautiful artwork. The house backs up to forest park and miles of walking trails. The back deck could make a lovely spot for a ceremony, or go to one of the near by venues in like Hoyt Arboretum.
Oregon Coast Airbnb Wedding Venues
Crabalope Oceanfront Cottage
This place has some incredible views and an awesome retro vibe! I love that the space is full of colorful midcentury furniture and huge picture windows. The backyard has a patio that is lit with string lights and a little foot path winding its way to the beach. This would be the perfect spot for an elopement.
Oregon Coast Modern at Neahkanhie Beach
The timber walls in this Airbnb make every room feel cozy and cabin-like. The house is just 5 minutes walking from Neahkahnie Beach and close to the town of Manzanita. The house is three stories tall and built into the hillside so it really feels like you’re staying in a treehouse!
Seacliff Coast Cabin
The Seacliff Cabin is inspired by clean, minimal Scandinavian design. Views of the ocean can be seen in all directions through the floor to celling windows. Neahkanhie Beach is just steps away and Oswald West State Park (One of my favorite places to shoot!) is a short drive from the property.
Oceanfront Cabin in Manzanita
I can just imagine how lovely a wedding ceremony on the back lawn of this ocean side cabin would be! This house is right next to Neahkanhie Mountain and a short walk to the beach. How cute is the barrel hot tub? The outdoor setting of this place makes it one of my favorite Oregon Coast Airbnb wedding venues.
Rockaway Beach Oceanfront
Watching the sunset from this place must be incredible. The fields of seagrass that stretch out to the sea would make a gorgeous ceremony backdrop. The interior of this place is, well, dated and retro.. but if you know me you know I love the 70s vibes!
Mount Hood Oregon Airbnb Wedding Venues
Mount Hood A-Frame Cabin
Sitting on the edge of Mount Hood National Forest, this cozy A-frame cabin would make a lovely elopement location! There is even an outdoor studio on the property that can also be rented out if you need to accommodate more guests. The back deck looks out over a canopy of forest and would be a wonderful ceremony backdrop!
The Woodlands House
This cabin is secluded on a whopping 5 acres of forested land. There is a large greenhouse that can be used for outdoor dinning for an additional fee (which means no worries about rain!) I love that the interior is minimal and bright. This would be the perfect place for you and a few guests to stay and celebrate.
The Zen Den
Check out the back yard area at this place! This modern, yet cozy cabin is a lovely place to gather with family and friends. The Sandy River is located just across the street and there are many access points to reach the beach. Plus there is a hot tub!
Bend, Oregon Airbnb Wedding Venues
The Geodesic Dome
This place is awesome for obvious reasons! It’s one of the most unique looking airbnbs in Bend and I think it would be the perfect backdrop to any elopement. The nature surrounding the dome creates a very tranquil setting. Mountain bike trails and hiking trails are nearby, and Tumalo Falls is just a few minutes away by car.
This space is clean and bright – a photographers dream! The sawmill would be a wonderful space to relax and get ready for an outdoor adventure to nearby lakes, forests, and waterfalls. This spot is right in town so it’s easy to grab drinks and food anytime of the day.
The Mill House
I just love the cottage bungalo vibe at this house! The cozy wooden details and the clean lines make a lovely setting for an intimate wedding or elopement. The Mill House is located in Bend’s historic district, which means you can walk to just about anything in town.
