After a rushing through Seattle traffic on a wednesday night I met up with Casey and Michelle at the Fauntleroy ferry terminal where we boarded the ship to Vashon Island. When we arrived it felt like we were in a different world far from the city.
We found lighthouses and lighthouse keepers (yes, on Vashon, lighthouses still have keepers). We found a pretty field bathed in light and trail signage warning of wildlife… Bears? Really? Still trying to confirm if Vashon Island actually has a bear population.
When we missed the 8:30pm ferry by a few seconds – we waved goodbye to it and sat down at the local pub for a beer until the last ferry off the island arrived an hour later. I kinda miss this little oasis and I need to go back someday.
